As a practitioner and researcher, I view architecture more as a layered process than a straightforward career path. It develops through various projects, collaborations, and teaching experiences.

As an architect, I have developed my skills across various project types, successfully transitioning between independent creative endeavours, competition-focused design, and collaborative efforts within established firms. Since 2011, my active involvement in architectural competitions and concept design at Lahdelma & Mahlamäki Architects in Helsinki, as well as the establishment of my independent practice, has demonstrated my ability to handle diverse challenges. This dual approach has taught me how to balance detailed conceptual thinking with practical project implementation, while maintaining a sense of curiosity, even in the face of long-term professional commitments.

Teaching has been a significant component of my career. As a university teacher at the Oulu School of Architecture, part of the University of Oulu, I have mentored students in various studio courses that cover contemporary architecture, housing design, urban history, and architectural representation methods. Additionally, I have participated in innovative pedagogical settings, such as workshops at Porto Academy and international summer schools, which emphasise teaching through collaborative exploration.

My academic journey has been intentionally international, a conscious choice to broaden my architectural perspective. I have studied in Finland, Austria, and Australia, and I am currently finalising my master’s thesis at the University of Oulu. Furthermore, I have undertaken extended research residencies at the Finnish Institute in Rome. Over the course of more than ten years, these experiences have rooted my architectural perspective in historical continuity and cultural exchange, while deepening my focus on villa typology and its modern reinterpretations. This international perspective is a vital aspect of my architectural approach.

Grants and awards have supported and recognised this trajectory, from the Prix de Rome to various international competition distinctions. What ties them together is not only the recognition of design skill but also a commitment to viewing architecture as a field of experimentation and a means of contributing to collective knowledge.

Working at the intersection of independent practice, competition design, and research. With experience ranging from long-term collaboration at Lahdelma & Mahlamäki Architects to teaching at the Oulu School of Architecture and residencies at the Finnish Institute in Rome, my work brings together design, pedagogy, and historical inquiry.

I am driven by curiosity, cultural exchange, and the search for new interpretations of architectural typologies in contemporary life.
